MUSIC OF THE NORTH-EAST WINDS

O'er jungle dense
mountain high
Across little streams
river wide
Far a distance
o'ver the land vast
The North-east winds
towards South-west blows
From Trengganu coast
to Kluang goes
Telling the story
of a past memory -
Of a lad
and a maiden fair
Of how they met
by the stair
And came to befriend
each other
And became
so much together
The cruel time wait not
but came
They have to separate
for their homeward ways
But their togetherness
will be in memory always
And the North-east winds
keep on blowing
And the sweet music
keep on flowing
Knowing that it will
be heard always
And the South-west winds
will blow North-east

This poem is part of a collection of my early poetry composition called "Revelation of Emotions," written during my student days. At that point of time I was 17 years of age. It reflects the feelings, thoughts, political consciousness and romanticism of that era of my life.
